INVERNESS HIGH SCHOOL

Project Overview:
Still in progress, this multi-million pound refurbishment of the existing 1930s/1970s school will bring the teaching facilities up to present day standards. The works involve the refurbishment of heavily serviced rooms such as Home Economics, Science Labs and Technology rooms and the creation of two commercial catering kitchens. Along with services design from conception, META designed a ‘services raft’ running the length or the main school corridors (see photographs). This carries and distributes all domestic water, natural gas and LTHW heating pipework and power, fire alarm and data cabling throughout the building. The raft incorporates acoustic panels to reduce noise reverberation, fire detection and down and up lighting to highlight many of the original buildings features.
